Kara

Irish in descent meaning 'friend'

Kara's story...

Kara came to us days before Christmas. She was found wandering around the countryside, abandoned for quite some time foraging for food and full of porcupine quills.

Thank goodness a concerned individual made a few calls and had her transported to their local vet office who kindly offered their services and removed the quills (which by the way took 2 1/2 hours in surgery to complete).

A customer of the person who initially found Kara contacted her daughter after hearing the story and explained that Kara was soon to be picked up and sent to a nearby pound, a pound that doesn't fall under the 'no kill' policy, especially with breeds like Rottweilers. Thank goodness the daughter worked at a local vet clinic in our area and made the necessary arrangements to have Kara brought to her office. We were called at that point to see if we could help provide a foster home for her while she recovered and to assess her temperament.

Kara is now back to a healthy weight, full of energy and such a happy girl. She can sit, lay down and catch treats. She loves to play with toys of any kind and is very good at playing with our other dogs. She is an extremely smart dog with excellent house manners, is completely house trained and when it's dinner time, she is the first one to run to her crate awaiting her dinner bowl. She has a wonderful disposition and shows no signs of aggression.

Kara is a medium to large female at approximately 2 years of age. She is very sound with no conformational issues. Kara is great with kids but because of her size we feel she would be better suited in a home with older children. We're not sure what she is like around cats but because of her high prey drive with toys we feel she would do better if in a home without small animals. She has however been introduced to puppies and plays wonderfully with them.

Kara is now up to date with her vaccines and will be spayed shortly.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the network of people that got so involved with helping Kara. If not for these individuals Kara most certainly would have been destroyed. Kara is now being given a second chance at a new and better life!
